Banking
The 5 most common mistakes when opening a bank account in Serbia
1. Assuming any bank will open with just a passport
Some do (Intesa, OTP, Erste) but require current Beli Karton. Others need full Boravak. Forum info is outdated — rules change every 6-12 months.
2. Walking in without an appointment
Most foreign-friendly branches require booking ahead. Ask for an English-speaking agent.
3. Not bringing the deposit
Initial deposit €100-€500 depending on bank.
4. Not documenting source of funds
Bring a remote work contract or invoice templates.
5. Expecting the multi-currency card same day
Card arrives 5-10 days later by mail.
